Day 81

Amy: So this is the spot?

Wraith: Correct, the facility is located approximately 100 feet deep into the rock.

Jim: Christ, how in the hell did they manage to lay so much rock the facility?

Wraith: There are numerous types of terraforming machinery that would aid in the displacement and movement of rock and matter.

Amy: At this point we might as well call them wizards, most of this stuff looks like magic.

Wraith: Technology in this Galaxy appears to bend to the will of nature rather than the technology in Andromeda, which was developed to subvert the laws of nature.

Jim: Something tells me that it drove you guys out in the end.

Wraith: Your assumption is correct, though this one does not possess the data to fully explain what happened.

Amy: Right, so this… drill I guess we’ll call it, should help us get through the rock right?

Wraith: Yes, it fires a rotating blade of hard light infused with heat energy which should cut through the rock fairly easily.

Amy: Huh, seems simple enough.

Wraith: Interface with the device with your operator frame and it should be as simple as pressing the trigger.

Amy: Alright, I guess I just press it here and…

*Humming noise*
*Whirring*
*Pulse*

Whoa!

Jim: Got it.

Amy: …thanks Jim, I didn’t think that much rock would fly back at us.

Jim: Thank this suit, making that barrier was pretty easy all things considering. And there’s not a scratch on it… though I don’t think you can scratch hard light.

Amy: Yeah well it saved my ass. Luckily looks like we only need to fire this thing once. It cut a big enough hole that we can just walk the rest of the way.

Jim: Wonder if it cut through the door.

Wraith: That would be improbable, the facility is composed of material that is capable of diffusing free energy at the moment of impact. Breaching the facility is impossible with most forms of conventional weaponry, let alone the tool Amy used.

Amy: Yeah well this tool could cut a nice pretty hole through some frigates and not bat an eye.

Jim: Well I dunno, a lot of Coalition ships nowadays have some pretty decent shielding that it’d have to get through first.

Amy: Well this thing could kick some pirate ass at least.

Jim: Anyways, think we should head in once the rock stops glowing?

Amy: Yeah, time to see what’s been hidden under all this rock.

And here we are, it's a door.

Jim: A door with what looks like a slot for the master key.

Amy: Good thing we brought that along then, let me just put it in here and… voila, door’s open.

Jim: It’s dark as hell though, save for what looks like a few power lines. Kind of like when we first found you Wraith.

Wraith: It appears that the facility is dormant, mapping out the internals.

Done, this one is uploading the map to your frames.

Amy: Neat, shows up right at the corner of my vision.

Jim: Yeah… I’m going to assume this huge room is another reactor room?

Wraith: There appears to be readings that indicate that, yes. However, this one advises caution when venturing into the complex.

Amy: Why? You think one of these Verakore could be around or something?

Wraith: Correct, though this one has still not come to a conclusion on the cadaver you found, caution would be the best choice.

Jim: He’s right, can’t afford to be relaxed when walking through a dark building anyways.

Amy: True, just gotta… oh god dammit.

Jim: What’s up?

Amy: One of the drones veered off course again, went into the ravines somewhere.

Jim: You hooked up the monitoring OS to your suit?

Amy: Yeah, Wraith helped me out with it, figured I could do both my job and mess around with it.

Jim: Alright… you think you can get it back in time to look at this place a bit?

Amy: No it went in pretty deep before activating its distress beacon, I can take Tessa out there but odds are it’ll be night time before I can make it back here.

Wraith: This one recommends you still stay at your facilities during the night. Though your new frames are capable of handling most hazardous environments, the temperatures at night on Deletros are still too extreme for them to handle. It is wise to err on the side of caution.

Jim: *Sigh* Yeah, man talk about blue balls.

Amy: Man Jim, you sound more disappointed than I do.

Jim: Well I mean we’re right here in front of the door, but nothing we can do about that. Gotta do our jobs or we’ll start looking suspicious.

Amy: Right, let's trying getting here early tomorrow then, gives us plenty of time to mess around.

Jim: Yeah, sounds smart to me. Good luck finding that drone.

Amy: Yeah, it’ll be really fun, like a scavenger hunt.
