Day 83

Jim: Right, so let’s go over what we found.

Amy: For the most part, nothing really that new, in the rooms we could get to of course.

Jim: Yeah, it's really just a bigger version of the lab back on the ship.

Amy: But, like you said, we couldn’t get to some rooms as well, even with the master key.

Wraith: This is unable to scan what is beyond those doors as well.

Amy: So it’s just a big black spot in this map.

Wraith: Correct. Judging from the layout on the map it is possible that this wing of the facility houses more complicated tools.

Amy: All the fancy tech this suit was for right?

Wraith: Correct, by pure estimation, this facility could in fact be much bigger than a mere science lab.

Amy: What made you change your mind?

Wraith: Initial scans estimated a simple science lab, but upon discovering the locked door and the looking back into this one’s inventory manifest, this one believes the structure holds more than merely science equipment.

Amy: Huh…

Jim: I know that smile Amy.

Amy: What? Oh come one you have to admit it would be pretty cool to explore that somehow.

Jim: It’s a dark spot that an advanced alien AI can’t even peer into, sounds like it could be dangerous.

Amy: How dangerous could it be?

Jim: Nothing is the history of ever has that phrase not been followed by some kind of dangerous situation.

Amy: Fine, I’ll keep my curiosity contained… for now.

Jim: Well thanks Lieutenant, I’ll be sure to report this to command to tell them how much of an exemplary officer you are.

Amy: Neat, maybe they’ll send me a ribbon.

Wraith: Pardon the interruption, but this one has one more point to discuss further.

Jim: Lay it on us.

Wraith: This one has been questioning the lack of an AI within the facility. Basic functions are automated, but the lack of a response from anything else leaves this one questioning the state of the AI.

Jim: Couldn’t you just… I dunno transmit yourself into the facility and take a closer look?

Wraith: This one is not capable of that.

Amy: What do you mean?

Wraith: This one is unable to transfer itself to any other vessel or facility without the aid of a crew member. This is by design of the Faar’Shar. Each vessel or facility has its own personalized and customized AI for maximum efficiency per facility.

Amy: That, and it prevents you from running rampant on other systems. Smart, we should have done the same a while ago.

Jim: Eh, human tech is all about accessibility right? Kind of hard to do that if we have a bunch of personalized AI that runs somewhat different than one another. The efficiency there prevents us from using AI to its full capability for cautionary purposes, but allows us to keep our minds engaged. Can’t automate everything or we just kind of dull out.

Amy: Or focus on other things, all a matter of perspective.

Wraith: Regardless, this one has been unable to contact the AI of the facility.

Amy: May have to go about it directly then, is their AI core located in the parts of the room we can investigate?

Wraith: Yes, the core is located in a room near the archives in the back.

Amy: Gonna have to take a look at that tomorrow then, we’ll let you know when we get there.

Wraith: Affirmative.
